What is pet euthanasia and how do I know when it’s the right time?

Pet euthanasia is a humane process that allows you to say goodbye to your pet in our safe and comfortable environment. Ultimately, you and your family will have the final say in deciding if euthanasia is the right option for your situation. During a scheduled consultation, we will discuss with you everything you need to know. Some factors that may indicate that euthanasia is a viable option for your pet are:

  • They are in chronic pain that cannot be managed with medication
  • They are no longer able to eat properly
  • They experience chronic coughing/ difficulty breathing
  • They have lost interest and/or ability to take part in activities they previously enjoyed (e.g. walking, playing, running)

How is the euthanasia drug administered?

The medication is typically administered via an IV injection. Essentially, your pet is given a drug overdose which causes organ failure. The entire procedure takes a few minutes and your pet will not feel any pain or discomfort. You and other members of your family are welcome to be with your pet through the entire process. We do our best to create a safe and comforting place for all of you.
